Time Well Spent

Some places don’t need to reinvent themselves. They just need a new introduction.

Alongside the Adelaide Aquatic Centre’s major redevelopment, our challenge was to reconnect people with something they already loved.

To launch the “new”, without the “gloss”.

Modern – but warm. New – but familiar.

Because the Centre has never just been about swimming. It’s about the in-between moments – kids burning energy, parents catching their breath, friends drifting between long laps and long conversations.

Working with YMCA and the Adelaide Aquatic Centre team, we built a launch platform grounded in the everyday. Less performance. More presence. The creative stepped away from fitness clichés and achievement language and leaned into the human side of the place: anticipation at the pool’s edge, shared glances, laughter echoing off the tiles, the quiet joy of simply being there together. Letting the energy of the space (and the people) lead.

Not a relaunch, but a reminder: the Aquatic Centre is about time well spent. A space where everything slows down, people come together, and the everyday feels a little more generous.
